About the Venue:

The 2008 ASN Canada FIA Canadian AutoSlalom Championships will be held at Slemon Park Airport (CYSU) in beautiful Summerside, Prince Edward Island.  Slemon Park is located at the edge of the city of Summerside.  Once known as CFB Summerside, the site was made available to the city of Summerside when the base was decommissioned.  The Slemon Park Corporation was formed to administer the facility.   A short 5 minute drive from Slemon Park is downtown Summerside.

The airport, built to handle heavy bombers, possesses a large and incredibly flat and smooth surface.  For 2008, the course will be set entirely on a concrete surface.  The area available includes approximately 59,000 square meters of concrete tarmac with maximum dimensions of 610 meters in length and 115 meters in width.  The surface is in excellent condition, well drained, uniform, and free of obstacles.

Course Area: 610m x 115m = 59,000 sq. meters

Paddock Area: 305m x 36m = 14,000 sq. meters

Pre-Grid Area: approx. 2,000 sq. meters

Impound Area: approx. 2,000 sq. meters

The paddock area can accommodate many vehicles including trailers and tow vehicles.  Vehicles and equipment can be left in the paddock area for the duration of the event.  The area is safe, secure, and just a short walk away from the Slemon Park Hotel.  Competitors can literally wake up the morning of the event and start walking the course.

The event is run in front of the flight services building which provides a number of amenities including meeting rooms, an auditorium, and washrooms.  Additional portable toilet units will be on site.  Food and beverages will also be available during the event.
